  • Typically requires a BA degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of judicial and legislative experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in legislative research in forensic DNA
  • A minimum of three (3) years of working experience with the latest version of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and SharePoint (User)
Responsibilities
  • Provide short-range (1-2 years) and long-range (3-5 years) support to the program including: providing legislative monitoring/support and planning, preparing, and conducting presentations and other support functions
  • Monitor Federal, State, and case law for revisions relating to the constitutionality of DNA databases and their use
  • Provide research and supporting documentation for use in litigation involving the Federal Convicted Offender Program and challenges to State DNA database laws
  • Maintain model provisions for DNA database laws for use by States seeking to revise their existing laws
  • Review pending Federal regulations and legislation on DNA
  • Research and prepare memoranda on issues affecting DNA databases
  • Audit support – respond to requests for information and prepare reports
