Azra Games - UX/UI Director

Azra Games is recapturing the childhood thrill of storytelling with your entire toy box for modern AAA gaming. We are dedicated to one genre, role-playing games, and led by veteran designer Mark Otero (Zero-to-one director of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, EA’s most successful mobile game of all time, with $1.5B lifetime revenue). Azra has assembled an expert team with decades of experience building blockbuster games. Our debut release, Legions & Legends, will be Mark’s ninth RPG. And his best. Azra Games believes in harnessing the power of technology, with a focus on generative AI, to radically disrupt & transform game development.

Who we’re looking for:
We are seeking a UX/UI Director to lead and shape the user experience vision for our ambitious cross-platform Action RPG. This role demands a strong understanding of successful cross-platform games like Genshin Impact, with particular emphasis on translating complex RPG systems into intuitive, engaging interfaces across mobile and PC platforms.

The UX/UI Director will be a decisive leader who drives the execution of UX/UI initiatives, making clear decisions that move projects forward while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role requires someone who can both craft the strategic vision and roll up their sleeves to ensure its successful implementation.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the UX/UI team, setting clear direction and maintaining high standards for all user interface deliverables
• Serve as the key liaison between Design, Engineering, and Art departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and implementation of UI systems
• Drive the development and evolution of our UI style guide and design system
• Make decisive recommendations based on user research and analytics, implementing solutions rather than just presenting options
• Oversee the creation and iteration of UI assets, ensuring they meet both technical requirements and aesthetic standards
• Lead the user testing process and drive rapid iterations based on player feedback
• Architect intuitive solutions for complex RPG systems including character progression, inventory management, and combat interfaces

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Shipped at least one successful Action RPG or strategy game with complex systems
• Deep understanding of cross-platform UX design principles and constraints
• Proven track record of leading and mentoring design teams
• Strong command of modern design tools including but not limited to: Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, After Effects
• Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative design processes
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience designing and shipping successful cross-platform games
• Deep understanding of Action RPG mechanics and UI patterns
• Strong portfolio demonstrating complex UI systems and information architecture
• Track record of successfully implementing player feedback into design iterations
• Experience unifying design systems across multiple platforms
• Ability to balance aesthetic excellence with technical constraints
• Strong understanding of how design decisions impact player retention and engagement

Base Salary Range: $127,000-$190,500. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
