Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or comparable degree
  • Five (5) years of experience working with Defined Contribution plans and Benefits Compliance
  • Strong knowledge of benefit terms and the laws and regulations (federal, state and local) related to benefit plans such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and the interrelationship of each; especially as they apply to defined contribution plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the company
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a strong customer service focus, when necessary must be able to work independently
  • Knowledge and proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Workday and PC applications including MS Office
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated commitment to completing assigned responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
Responsibilities
  • Manages and administers SCI’s 401(k) plan, managing compliance issues (e.g., ACA) and researching, evaluating and administering company benefit programs
  • Administers all aspects of SCI’s $1.8B 401k plans (one union plan and one non-union), as well as a defined contribution plan in Puerto Rico
  • Responds to associate inquiries received through the Company’s internal call center
  • Manages annual audits of retirement plans and submission of 5500s
  • Manages annual 1095Cs and delivery to participants
  • Conducts monthly and annual ACA review for benefits eligibility
  • Reviews 2nd level benefits appeals and provide recommended resolution to Benefits Manager in accordance with company policies, procedures and federal and state regulations
  • Supports HR Directors and Business Partners on escalated associate issues that require issue resolution with 3rd party administrators
  • Coordinates delivery of communications, educations and earning materials from internal and external sources to drive engagement with SCI benefits
  • Audits and processes for payment invoices for each provider of benefit services
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors, insurance carriers, third-party administrators who provide direct benefits customer support to SCI’s associates and managers
  • Assists in the creation and reviews business process requirements documents related to services SCI’s by 3rd party providers
  • Analyzing and identifying trends with system interface issues to determine “root cause” and provide solutions to correct the issue
  • Reviews weekly, monthly or annual reports and system interfaces to ensure enrollments are processed according to plan documents and federal/state regulations
  • Responds to court orders, medical support orders and other required documents as they relate to Benefits programs
  • Responsible for maintaining all records, files and historical documentation to ensure accurate and total compliance with SOX audit requirements
  • Performs special projects as assigned
  • Assists in the annual enrollment process: Develops benefit communications, SPD’s and plan documents
  • Reviews and provides sign-off on system setup with third-party benefit vendor
  • Researches and analyzes SCI’s benefit programs and assists in the development of recommendations for development/implementation on new programs or offerings

Well-known funeral directors shift careers to Highland Park Funeral Centre. Dean Gemmiti and Carl Brown are leaving Comstock/Kaye after a combined 80 years of service. A shakeup in the local funeral home business has led to two well-known funeral directors changing locations. Dean Gemmiti and Carl Brown have joined the Opus Tribute Group at Highland Park Funeral Centre after a combined 80 years at Comstock/Kaye Life Celebration Centre. The move comes after Houston-based Service Corporation International (SCI), owners of Comstock/Kaye, purchased Ashburnham Funeral Home and Reception Centre and Community Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services. Mike Davies is a sports director and reporter at the Peterborough Examiner.
