Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience as a safety engineer, systems engineer or equivalent engineering background.
  • B.S. Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related technical discipline. Experience with electrical, electromechanical and software-intensive systems preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882, ARP4754, ARP4761, or a similar commercial standard.
  • Experience designing safety critical systems and architecting fault management systems
  • Experience conducting both deductive and inductive safety analyses, such as fault tree analysis (FTA); functional hazard assessments (FHA), failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA); probabilistic risk assessment (PRA); root cause assessment (RCA); Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP); or goal function tree, especially in a model-based environment.
  • Experience developing testable system and software safety requirements
  • U.S. Person Status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Lead development of a model-based safety case for an uncrewed ground combat system with autonomous mobility functions in a small cross-functional team.
  • Own the end-to-end safety analysis process evaluating a system from functional hazard analysis (FHA) to the lowest level of the fault tree analysis (FTA).
  • Design a fault management system to establish fault tolerant behavior ensuring fault containment regions and system resilience.
  • Generate safety requirements to ensure the system is designed to meet our safety case, and safety goals
  • Conduct safety testing, simulations and fault modeling to understand system behavior and breaking points under heavy load, and engineers solutions to enable the system to degrade gracefully.
  • Identify and document risks throughout the product lifecycle, coordinate risk mitigation with supporting stakeholders, and verify and validate risk or hazard mitigation measures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functionality, or other complex robotic systems.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a safety case in accordance with UL 4600 or equivalent, especially in a model-based environment.
  • Failure investigation experience with proven track record of solving problems and preventing reoccurrence.
  • Familiarity with industry autonomy standards including ISO 21448 and UL 4600.
  • Experience with a scripting language such as Python, MATLAB, or Julia, especially to conduct safety analyses, risk assessments, or verification evidence.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation (P&ID) diagrams, electrical engineering best practices, and industry guidelines for reliability.

Meta Is Recruiting Former Pentagon Officials As It Ramps Up Military Ambitions

Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been on a monthslong charm offensive with the Trump administration Copyright 2025 The Associated Press. All rights reservedMeta is courting national security and former Pentagon officials to help sell its virtual reality and AI services to the federal government, Forbes has learned. Multiple former government officials said they were aware of the recruiting efforts.Meta, which recently opened up its Llama AI model for military use, has long maintained lobbyists in D.C., but almost half a dozen current open roles indicate it is bolstering its efforts to secure lucrative government contracts. The company is seeking two public policy managers, including one to focus on the White House — preferably with a security clearance and previous Pentagon work — to “lead our outreach to national security and foreign policy agencies within the Executive Branch of the U.S. government on both policy issues and adoption of our technologies.”In January, Meta hired Francis Brennan, a former Trump advisor, to lead strategic communications out of D.C. Another recent hire, who according to their Linkedin worked for an undisclosed federal government agency for more than a decade, posted about joining Meta to focus on its “intelligence sharing” with the government
