Requirements
  • An Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • At least 8 years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural drafting and design is required.
  • Knowledge and application of American Institute of Steel Construction and American Concrete Institute standard details are required.
  • Ability to produce drawings for concrete, structural steel, and/or civil disciplines is required.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment is required.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and computer-aided design drafting standards are required.
  • Ability to create accurate civil/structural construction documents from vendor equipment drawings is required.
  • Knowledge of workflow and information flow between disciplines is required.
  • Knowledge of schedule constraints and information requirements for producing civil/structural deliverables is required.
  • Ability to estimate completion of assigned tasks accurately is required.
  • Ability to develop construction cost estimates, detailed engineering schedules, and man-hour budgets for a small project or an area of a larger project with engineering review and approval is required.
  • Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments is required.
  • Ability to deliver presentations about Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services is required.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software, including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time is required.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Apply theoretical knowledge and practical design methods to complete complex civil/structural assignments under general supervision.
  • Use department design and drafting standards.
  • Recognize and communicate project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
  • Review current civil/structural calculations, equipment drawings and layouts, and drawings from other disciplines before beginning design work on specific drawings.
  • Draft civil/structural plans under minimal supervision.
  • Apply knowledge of basic civil material specifications so that material purchase, fabrication, and construction information is reflected on finished drawings.
  • Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
  • Perform field work to collect design information and verify tie-ins, function, and clearances to existing facilities.
  • Provide on-site assistance during startup.
  • Perform assigned field support activities for engineering support during construction.
  • Assist engineers with cost and material estimates and preliminary design studies.
  • Check the accuracy and quality of drawings developed by drafters based on engineering direction, equipment drawings, and discipline drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting personnel.
  • Coordinate and delegate work activities with teammates and discipline leads.
  • Produce civil/structural construction scopes with engineering review and approval.
  • Mentor entry-level and new teammates.
  • Provide interoffice execution support under general supervision.
