The Importance of the Role
This individual will fulfill the requirements needed to support research studies, sample testing, assay development, and optimization. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for laboratory maintenance to support day-to-day operations. This person will learn basic laboratory skills while sharpening their communication skills and collaborative approaches to advance science and operations. This person will receive the rare opportunity to rotate between three different departments to gain experience in Translational Biology.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
Responsible for a variety of tasks including study preparation, sample collection, and sample management and inventory.
Conduct data collection and analysis, develop and optimize assays, and engage in early-stage research.
Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), create and present presentations, and perform literature searches.
Maintain and inventory of chemicals and reagents, restocking the laboratory, and managing equipment maintenance and vendor engagement.
Perform microscopy and image analysis, interpret and document histological data, and carry out various morphometric tasks such as measuring and analyzing anatomical structures, conducting quantitative analysis of histological structures, and performing 3D reconstruction and modeling of biological specimens.
Statistical analysis of morphometric data and reporting and presenting findings will also be part of your responsibilities.
Extract and purify DNA, RNA, and proteins, conduct PCR, qPCR, and RT-PCR assays, and perform gel electrophoresis and blotting techniques.
Perform assay development and optimization, as well as data collection, analysis, interpretation, and additional responsibilities as assigned.
More about You
Undergraduates who have completed their sophomore year pursuing a degree in Life Sciences with a strong interest in the Biotech industry
Prior lab experience preferred
Ability to strictly adhere to laboratory SOPs is required
Good Laboratory and Documentation Practices (GLP and GDP) are required- training available
Ability to handle a multi-task workload is required
Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are required
Experience using Microsoft Office is required
Program Timeline:
This application is for a 12-week summer internship program that will start on May 19th and conclude on August 8th, 2025.
