Mod Med is looking for a senior-level MySQL Application DBA who will be responsible for supporting database design, tuning, deployment, and data management as a member of Mod Med’s Cloud Services Engineering Team. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and architects responsible for the development of Mod Med’s software products and the cloud services where those products are deployed. This role also involves providing support to both internal and external customers. Experience in development in addition to administration will be helpful as you team up with system administrators, application developers, and business process leaders to provide project insight and direction.

The Role:

• Support Modernizing Medicine’s ongoing development of our enterprise SaaS application, Ipad application with an emphasis on database design and SQL.
• Support the engineering team in defining, identifying, and optimizing database queries, indexes, and other objects.
• Work very closely with the Cloud Operations team in proactively monitoring the database performance and identifying the slow-running queries, blocks, and other potential issues and bring those to the engineering team.
• Work with AWS, Percona, and any other 3rd party vendors.
• Design, develop and support database needs by working with business systems analysts.
• Work with the Cloud Services team to provide management of production systems in collaboration with Client Services and Product Development.
• Provides support for a 24/7/365 production environment.
• Manage database backups, logging, and related SysAdmin tasks.
• Maintain documentation of systems, policies, and procedures.
• Perform database tuning for optimal performance.
• Perform load and scale tests with large data sets.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products (MYSQL, Hadoop, ElasticSearch, AWS-RDS, etc.).

Skills & Requirements:

• We’re looking for candidates with a good track record of enterprise level database experience and production support.
• Technical experience should include MySQL administration, exposure to Hadoop, Java and supporting software development teams.
• Bachelors Degree in technical discipline preferred.
