Requirements
  • A BFA, BA, or Associate's degree in Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of experience working with design products.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mac operating systems and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to create art from scratch using traditional and digital techniques in flexible artistic styles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of pattern repeats, composition, and engineered layouts.
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Solid understanding of the marketplace and competitive set.
  • Ability to research the competitive market and identify trends, color, and whitespace.
  • Ability to translate trend direction into successful designs by merchandising cohesive collections and delivering results.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Follow art direction and critique from the Creative Director and Art Director, with guidance from the Lead Designer, while completing projects according to deadlines and department processes.
  • Contribute creative input and conceptual development under the design direction of the Art Director and Lead Designer to create designs for programs and accounts.
  • Expand existing artwork into original, production-ready designs for products and templates.
  • Manage design and development details for prints and products through production, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Maintain digital files, embellishment specifications, and product tracking through the final sample stage.
  • Review samples, update documents with accurate information, and follow up with the Lead Designer regarding revisions and product comments.
  • Create clean, high-quality product mock-ups.
  • Maintain organized personal and digital workspaces and files.
  • Provide daily progress and approval-status updates, identify foreseeable risks, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Follow Art Department protocols and guidelines.
  • Support the Design Team and Art Department workflow through assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the training program intended to prepare the Assistant Designer for progression to Designer.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience creating professional mock-ups.
  • Experience in textile design, packaging design, or 3D design.
  • Typography experience.
