Requirements
  • Five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the maintenance, installation and repair of a railroad signal system and electrical equipment relevant to the duties of the position of Maintenance Supervisor (Signals)
  • At least one year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity
  • A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York with no restrictions, which must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Development and delivery of training programs in the classroom and at field locations
  • Supervising and instructing students in math, electronics, fiber optic training, and the operation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of NYC Transit signal equipment
  • Developing and writing lesson plans
  • Developing and maintaining training aids and mock-ups
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the delivery of training, both computer-based and instructor-led
  • Maintaining records and preparing reports and evaluations on trainees
  • Preparing and delivering formal presentations
  • Reviewing new technology contracts and attending vendor training
  • Cross-training in electronic instruction
Desired Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of the methods and procedures used by the Division of Maintenance of Way/Signals/New Technology Signals for the inspection and maintenance of NYC Transit signals equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of NYC Transit's rules and regulations
  • Ability to organize and present training material to an audience
  • Effective writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of CBTC, SSI, PLC, UPS, SAG Corrector operations & procedures
  • Understanding of Fiber Optics (FO) & FO splicing
  • Basic industrial electronic component fundamentals and use of oscilloscopes
