Requirements
  • Grade 12 or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience.
  • Level 1 Ice Making is considered an asset.
  • A Refrigeration Operator Ticket is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience performing ice making and sport surface maintenance is an asset.
  • Experience multitasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan provincial driver's license.
  • Available to work days, events, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
  • Ability to operate various playing surface equipment and a scissor lift is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ice making and sport surface maintenance is an asset.
  • Knowledge of labour code, work standards, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the WHMIS program is an asset.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
  • Must meet the physical demands of the position, including mobility, climbing stairs and ladders, walking long distances, exposure to cold and outdoor conditions, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 kilograms.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare facilities for multi-surface installation, including ice, turf, and hard courts.
  • Conduct regular checks of all playing surfaces on campus.
  • Follow conservation measures and identify and control risks.
  • Track and maintain surface equipment and supplies.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on playing surface equipment.
  • Operate and maintain playing surface equipment, including surface-painting equipment.
  • Assist with removal and installation of ice surfaces and convert playing surface areas for dry-floor events.
  • Maintain arena facilities and playing surfaces according to departmental cleanliness standards.
  • Inspect arena boards, clean glass, clean fields, and make emergency and general repairs throughout sport facilities.
  • Inspect glass and netting and document required repairs.
  • Lock and secure facilities when not in use.
  • Perform daily safety and security checks of facilities.
  • Ensure doors and light fixtures are safe, operational, and in good repair.
  • Identify, document, and immediately report damage, vandalism, or graffiti.
  • Set up and take down events according to service orders.
  • Identify and troubleshoot maintenance problems, perform emergency repairs, follow up on work requests with the manager, and follow established preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Immediately report fire or medical emergencies.
  • Maintain records.
  • Assist with general repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist the Fixed Assets and Maintenance and Grounds and Conversion teams with plumbing and heating system maintenance and other duties as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
