Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children and adults, particularly those diagnosed with Autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • The ability to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of children and adults diagnosed with a developmental disability.
  • The ability to work independently, flexible, varied hours in multiple locations -- days, evenings, and weekends -- as necessary to meet the needs of individuals served.
  • Ability to work in a minimally supervised setting.
  • Ability to drive agency vehicle to transport individuals as needed.
  • Bilingual fluency
  • Basic Computer Literacy, e.g. - basic Internet use, checking email account, creating and sending e-mail with an attachment. can open spreadsheets, etc.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
  • Providing protective oversight for assigned individual.
  • Providing assistance with personal care if applicable and as needed, as well as providing reminders and simple assistance for activities such as eating.
  • Following service plan designed by the care coordination team.
  • Encouraging individual toward self-reliance.
  • Understanding and respecting the confidentiality of the individual and family.
  • Accepting responsibility for compliance with all policies, procedures and service requirements of Easterseals and the Respite programs.
  • Completing and maintaining all required documentation required for position.
  • Working in accordance with state HCBS Waiver Key, OPWDD and Agency policies & procedures and regulations required for provision of services, documentation, and training needs.
  • Demonstrating ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors when appropriate, cooperating with the individual, primary caregiver, family and program supervisor.
  • Following protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, maintaining cooperative and regular communication/correspondences with supervisor, program administrative team, other employees of the agency and clientele as necessary even if not actively scheduled to work.
  • Transporting youth, families and staff in a safe manner as requested for program (for recreation only).
