Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and six months of related experience are required.
  • If assigned to mobile operations, the employee must successfully pass commercial driver's license pre-qualifications and training and obtain a Commercial Driver's License.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • The employee must be able to read, understand, and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The employee must be able to write routine reports and correspondence and organize work for timely completion.
  • The employee must be able to follow oral and written instructions and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • The employee must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people contacted during work.
  • The employee must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • The employee must have basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • The employee must be able to commute using personal transportation.
  • If assigned to mobile operations, the employee must be able to operate and drive a mobile, box truck, or van to designated sites.
  • The employee must be able to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary.
  • The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or move objects and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or proper equipment for heavier objects.
  • The employee must be able to perform climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, extended standing, and manual dexterity tasks involving phlebotomy equipment.
  • If assigned to mobile operations, the employee must be able to drive a large vehicle.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to collection staff during blood drives or at branches, including assigning meal and break periods.
  • Ensure that staff follow applicable policies and procedures.
  • Obtain medical histories and vital signs from donors and patients.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection procedures to collect blood or blood components.
  • Complete beginning- and end-of-shift responsibilities, including reviewing donor records and regulated documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with recruiting donors, including potential apheresis and platelet candidates, and support collection goals including ALYX conversions and split rates.
  • Ensure that equipment is operational and necessary supplies are available for blood drives or branch operations.
  • Monitor deferrals and performance to identify training needs or equipment issues.
  • Provide professional customer service and communicate issues and concerns to Donor Recruitment staff during blood drives.
  • When assigned to mobile operations, drive a bloodmobile and other collection vehicles to and from collection sites.

OneBlood is a not-for-profit community organization that collects, tests, processes and distributes blood to more than 200 hospital partners across a wide service area in Florida and parts of Georgia and Alabama. It ensures safe, available and affordable blood supply to patients in Tampa Bay, Central Florida, South and Southeast Florida, Pensacola, Tallahassee and bordering regions. The system works by gathering donated blood, screening and processing it, storing it, and distributing it to partner hospitals as needed. Unlike many for-profit blood suppliers, OneBlood operates as a community asset driven by mission rather than profit, coordinating a large regional network to maintain a reliable blood supply. Its goal is to save lives by maintaining a steady flow of safe blood to hospitals and patients who need transfusions.
