  • Four years of experience working in economic development management or a related field and administering the implementation of development, redevelopment, and capital improvement projects
  • Demonstrated experience in public and social services program planning, administration, budgeting, and finance
  • Working knowledge of laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies of various government agencies and their effect on businesses and community services
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and develops economic development initiatives for Maricopa County and regularly reports on economic development projects
  • Collaborates with Elected Officials and other County Executives in implementing economic development initiatives and strategic priorities
  • Liaises with economic development organizations that Maricopa County partners with or is a member of
  • Liaises with the state, cities and towns on relevant economic development projects, initiatives, or development strategies
  • Coordinates with internal county departments on permitting and regulatory compliance requirements related to county and/or partner economic development projects
  • Meets and works with citizen committees, special interest groups, non-profit organizations, and neighborhood groups concerning economic development issues and the status of programs
  • Leads and conducts studies and projects related to administrative and operational concerns
  • Coordinates and provides significant input into developing and implementing goals, objectives, and policies for multiple administrative functions
  • Develops and implements long-range strategic goals and objectives
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of service delivery and develops more efficient methods to increase and improve it
  • Ensures that functions and/or programs comply with contracts, funding, etc.
  • Participates in identifying, developing, and monitoring economic development opportunities in the County’s strategic plans
