The Infra Foundation Capacity Engineering team provides Roblox with efficient capacity that can scale with Roblox’s growth while supporting emerging initiatives and special events.

Our customers are our coworkers, and you will work with engineers across Roblox on company-wide capacity engineering. You will work on projects at every pipeline stage, improving Roblox capacity engineering quality, velocity and happiness. This high-impact position is critical to supporting our engineering teams as we scale our platforms to handle the demands of our targeted one billion monthly users. You will work with peer capacity planners and software engineers, and collaborate with Finance and our business teams to deliver optimal and cost-effective capacity.

You will report to the Infra Foundation - Capacity Engineering Manager.

This role is based in our San Mateo HQ office (on-site).

You Will:

Build and run Roblox’s capacity planning processes and systems from the ground up
Drive planning of Roblox’s bare-metal and cloud infrastructure
Partner across engineering and finance to discover the optimal solutions to scale Roblox’s infrastructure
Design software systems that model and forecast infrastructure
Optimize and drive efficiency throughout our fleet
Ensure capacity to maintain services in the space of failure

You Have:

Proficiency in software engineering in languages such as Python, Go, and SQL
Passion for building products that shape cultures and make others’ lives better, continuously championing engineering excellence across the company
Expertise with data modeling, trend analysis and forecasting for data center and public cloud capacity planning to support demand and supply planning, buffer management, investment, efficiency, and Return on investment decisions
Experience, with 5+ years in Capacity Engineering including a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field.
Experience with data center hardware technology and data center capacity planning and budgeting.
A strong sense of vision and well-versed in partnership with business collaborators

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$233,840—$315,850 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
