The Opportunity:

What if you could use your engineering skills to transform laser weapon systems? As an electrical engineer, you understand the power behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to developing, designing and testing tracking systems for laser and optical systems pertaining to military and defense applications.  We’re looking for an electrical engineer who can use their skills to make laser weapon system accurately point and track targets for the purposes of combat identification, engaging hostile targets, and assessing damage to targets.

Our team provides engineering expertise to help our client develop, integrate, and test prototype laser weapon systems for the Navy.  That’s why we need you, an electrical engineer or scientist, with a solid background in developing pointing and tracking systems to help us design, model, and simulate tracking algorithms.  You’ll design and implement state space models and representations of analog and digital control systems in the development of passive and active tracking systems.  You’ll directly impact the development of new laser weapon systems by modeling, building, integrating, testing, and assessing laser pointing and tracking systems.  This is a chance to use your beam control skills while gaining experience in advanced laser weapon systems.  Join us and take on exciting challenges in rapidly developing and deploying laser weapon systems, as we support the next generation of weapons to defend our warfighters from hostile threats.

You Have:

• Experience reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing electrical drawings, diagrams, and schematics

• Experience supporting or conducting test events in laboratory, prototyping, or field environments

• Knowledge of basic Electrical Engineering principles

• Ability to develop technical documentation, including 2D technical drawings, 3D models, and written technical documentation

• Ability to collaborate with an integrated product team, including a variety of technical and non-technical teammates

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

• Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

• Experience with fabrication, assembly, and integration of electromechanical prototype, maritime, or military systems

• Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design

• Experience in lab-based developmental testing and test data acquisition

• Experience with Lasers including target illuminators, beacon illuminators, target range finders, high energy lasers, and optical phased arrays

• Knowledge of product design for manufacturability, reliability, maintainability, and exposure to extreme environments

• Knowledge of programming, including C or C++

• Knowledge of the development of embedded systems, including Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development

• Ability to effectively communicate concepts, results, and technical information to internal and external audiences, and technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Secret clearance

• EIT or PE Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
