Requirements
- A high school diploma, current enrollment in high school, or a General Educational Development certificate is required.
- Vermont employees must be registered with the State of Vermont as a pharmacy technician.
- Candidates must complete a drug test.
- Candidates are subject to initial and continuous exclusion and sanction or disciplinary monitoring.
- Candidates must meet any additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position.
- Candidates must keep current with all state and federal requirements related to conditions of employment.
- Candidates must complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacy staff in triaging incoming prescriptions.
- Verify and gather necessary patient information, including name, address, phone number, date of birth, allergies, chronic conditions, requests for nonsafety caps, and insurance information.
- Assess the workload, establish prescription pickup times, and queue prescriptions for processing.
- Assist with delivering prescriptions to patients, including obtaining patient signatures.
- Perform cash register duties within the Pharmacy Department.
- Provide customer service to customers.
- Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a professional environment, including replenishing vials, dispensing containers, labels, and computer paper supplies.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information.
- Perform store clerk duties as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
- An Associate degree or higher is preferred.
- Hospital or retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
