Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in child development or early childhood education or equivalent education & experience required
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated classroom experience teaching children under 6 years
  • Formal student teaching experience or P-3 certification required
  • Experience creating & implementing lesson plans required
  • Experience teaching children with developmental delays required
  • Current first aid, communicable diseases, & child abuse recognition certifications or training within 120 days of hire required
  • All immunizations must be up to date
  • Successful completion of Bureau of Criminal Investigation check required
  • Completion of pre-employment physical including drug screen required
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead educator in an integrated classroom environment for children with and without developmental delays
  • Plan and adapt curriculum for children with developmental delays or disabilities
  • Work closely with Early Intervention team to review and plan pathway to achieve goals of Individualized Family Service Plan for each child
  • Oversee, integrate and monitor progress of daily and long-term planning to meet developmental and educational goals of all students
  • Assess children's growth and development using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS) Curriculum
  • Communicate formal and informal assessment results and developmental progress of child to parents
  • Serve as child advocate to ensure all social, emotional, physical and educational needs are met
  • Plan and execute daily activities in the classroom
  • Develop and write lesson plans to provide cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of children
  • Implement, evaluate and disseminate classroom programming, routines, policies and procedures
  • Conduct systematic data collection and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Prepare written summaries of curriculum and children's daily educational experiences
  • Implement health, safety and security processes and procedures
  • Advise, instruct and supervise entry-level teachers, teaching assistants and student employees
  • Provide in-service and pre-service training for students
  • Evaluate knowledge and performance competencies of students
  • Participate in professional development activities and comply with continuing education requirements
