Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers or an American Heart Association-recognized equivalent.
  • Ability to perform the listed standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, grasping, manipulation, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, sensory, vision, hearing, and balance functions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted and exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required in selected positions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in the professional practice model, shared governance, peer review, and professional development.
  • Adhere to standards of care and promote leadership and clinical excellence through effective teamwork, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care-management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth.
