Requirements
  • Board-certified Transfusion Medicine Physician with certification by the American Board of Pathology and eligibility for medical licensure in South Carolina.
  • MD or equivalent degree with pathology specialty training and certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic, Clinical, and Transfusion Medicine; Clinical Pathology/Transfusion candidates will be considered.
  • 2-8 years of post-fellowship experience in Transfusion Medicine including at least 2 years training/experience in cell therapy (stem cell) processing laboratory; current fellow/recent graduates will be considered.
  • Proficiency in interpretation of results for techniques employed in the clinical work-up of transfusion services and complications.
  • Performance and optimization of quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Knowledge and experience in transfusion medicine accreditation maintenance, test development, validation, and implementation.
  • Experience fostering collaborative relationships with clinicians and researchers and serving as a resource to technologists at the bench.
  • Participation in clinical and/or translational research endeavors.
  • Excellent communication skills, work ethic, and collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Active participation in teaching of medical students and training of pathology residents and fellows.
  • Active participation in the ACGME-accredited molecular genetic pathology fellowship training program ongoing development and training.
  • Active participation in the academic mission of the Department.
