Requirements
  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related technical discipline
  • 5 or more years of experience in a related engineering field
  • Experience in water & wastewater treatment design is preferable.
Responsibilities
  • Mark-up and check engineering drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment general layout drawings and plant layout drawings
  • Perform required calculations to size and specify equipment, including plant hydraulics, piping, chemical feed systems, vessels/tanks, pumps, filters/strainers, mixers, blowers, compressed air and chemical feed systems
  • Review and interpret customer specifications for equipment selection and complete equipment data sheets as required
  • Work with procurement to specify, evaluate bids and approve vendor documentation for rotating equipment & static equipment (eg. HX, crystallizer etc.), heat exchangers, chemical feed equipment, major subsystems, minor equipment and piping components
  • Prepare fluid schedule, piping material specs, pipe service matrix, equipment list, Valves (Auto/Manual/control etc.,) and minor equipment list and piping line lists as required
  • Engineer systems in compliance with engineering principles, customer standards and specifications, contractual requirements, and local applicable codes
  • Provide technical support to activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified project related equipment and designs
  • Ensure that all engineering designs, bills of material and technical data are completely and accurately documented by reviewing associated engineering drawings and SAP system entries
  • Meet Quality Management System (QMS) requirements for project execution and documentation including participation in Process Validation, Design Review, HAZOP, and Release for Fab meetings as required
  • Interface with execution team (other Project engineers, Mechanical Designers, Process Engineers, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers, Project Manager) to ensure accurate and timely information transfer and issue identification and resolution
  • Site visits and customer meetings for project technical requirements.

Microplastics have become a concern. These particles, smaller than 5 millimeters, slough off plastic as it degrades. It is a menace that is practically omnipresent and ubiquitous.According to an article published in the magazine of Harvard Medical School, Harvard Medicine, microplastics have been detected throughout the human body, including in the blood, saliva, liver, kidneys, and placenta.Microplastics, smaller than 1 micrometer, called nanoplastics, are even more dangerous because they can infiltrate cells. Apart from the human body, microplastics have penetrated – with their severely contaminating presence – the environment, marine wildlife, and animals.Microplastics could be found in human breast milk and an infant's first stool, the meconium, indicating that the danger of microplastics is walking alongside us, like an ominous shadow, from day zero.It could potentially cause oxidative damage, DNA damage, and changes in gene activity.
