Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline is required.
- At least three years of clinical experience is required.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or an equivalent relevant categorical certification is required.
- An Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required for the listed technician qualification path.
- At least three years of clinical experience is required for the listed technician qualification path.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or an equivalent is required.
- External candidates must complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in position for the listed medical laboratory scientist qualification path.
- External candidates must complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within six months in position for the listed medical laboratory technician qualification path.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing assigned to the department.
- Recognize unusual test results and resolve discrepancies.
- Establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously.
- Troubleshoot instruments and other laboratory problems or issues.
- Maintain knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures required to work effectively.
- Develop, draft, and revise Standard Operating Procedures, training documents, validation and verification plans, test cases, and validation and verification summaries.
- Maintain communication with the department and other Laboratory Services personnel.
