Requirements
  • J.D. with top academic credentials and membership with at least one state bar
  • Business-savvy, creative approach to problem-solving; capable of devising legal solutions in novel and pragmatic ways
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate a large organization and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Can efficiently and independently handle and organize multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced and innovative environment, to make quick but informed decisions and to persuasively advocate for a position
  • Willingness to utilize systems, tools, and technology to solve or prevent problems. Excellent analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to issue spot legal issues and a strong sense of when to escalate (and not escalate) those matters to partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel as needed 5-10% of time
Responsibilities
  • Take end-to-end ownership of a variety of demands, claims, and litigation, which will include investigating claims and fact development, responding to demand letters, participating in mediations and arbitrations, and when applicable, managing outside counsel to defend claims
  • Assist with management of eDiscovery processes, including implementing document holds and managing document collections and productions
  • Helping manage responses to third-party document/information requests / subpoenas
  • Work cross-functionally and develop relationships with stakeholders across the company to gather and review factual documentation needed to assist with handling of legal matters
  • Effectively communicate complex legal principles to business stakeholders and partners by crafting succinct and practical advice that helps further the company's business objectives and mitigate risk
  • Identify, review, analyze and mitigate litigation and regulatory risks
  • Take on ad hoc projects aimed at improving efficiency, eliminating redundancy and mitigating risk
  • Develop deep expertise in our business, industry and communities in order to anticipate and address risks to the company
  • Prioritize the most critical work and find ways to scale and improve processes
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience related to any of the following is a plus: e-commerce, commercial disputes, intellectual property, product liability, competition/antitrust, and consumer legal issues
