- Maintain current Basic Life Support/HealthCare Provider certification.
- Demonstrate competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care and unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.

Responsibilities
- Provide and document individualized patient care, including patient evaluation, education, medication administration, intravenous therapy, treatments, and patient safety, as directed by the registered nurse or provider.
- Communicate appropriate information regarding the patient's condition to the registered nurse and other members of the healthcare team.
- Assist the registered nurse or provider during examinations and procedures.
- Document patient data and patient education according to Baptist Health and department-specific guidelines.
- Perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining the next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or providers.
- Administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations within the licensed practical nurse scope and as directed by a provider.
- Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients and families.
- Stay informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment.
- Participate in nursing performance-improvement activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned unit.
- Assess data reflecting the patient's status, interpret the information needed to identify age-specific patient requirements, and provide care according to unit, area, and department policies and procedures.
- Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
- Use aseptic technique and specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the anesthesiologist, certified registered nurse anesthetist, and student registered nurse anesthetist in the perioperative anesthesia setting.
- Apply standards and recommended practices for the perioperative setting and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Provide anesthesia equipment and supplies based on identified needs in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
- Assist anesthesia personnel with the administration of general, spinal, and regional anesthesia.
- Set up invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia personnel.
- Under the direction of anesthesia personnel, run point-of-care laboratory tests and diagnostics and complete required point-of-care documentation.
- Work closely with anesthesia staff during anesthesia emergencies and trauma cases, including preparing the operating-room suite, assisting with line placement, handling blood and laboratory draws, and positioning patients.
- Troubleshoot and care for equipment used in anesthesia care.
- Receive, sort, decontaminate, and clean reusable anesthesia equipment.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas.
- Position patients according to operating-room policy and procedure and safely transport them postoperatively to the post-anesthesia care unit or another unit.
- Communicate appropriate information regarding the patient's condition to anesthesia personnel and other healthcare team members.
- Report to duty on time, follow break and lunch policies, and complete assigned duties efficiently and timely.
- Use supplies efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized unit.
