About UDisc
UDisc is the leading disc golf mobile app and software company. We’re building the next generation of digital scoring, statistics, and tools for disc golfers to organize and connect the sport.
We are looking for a data science intern for our 2024 summer internship program. You will experience the best of both worlds—data science and disc golf—while honing your analytical skills alongside a team of dedicated and passionate disc golfing engineers. UDisc interns are members of the team. You will perform analyses, create and manage data pipelines, and develop other data-oriented tooling such as statistical models, dashboards and reports which impact hundreds of thousands of disc golfers, while learning first-hand how a growing technology company operates.
About the Role
Use your data science skills to build and support tools which connect disc golfers and disc golf community leaders to the data they need to grow
Collaborate with the data science team as well as engineering, product, growth, and customer success teams. While you’ll be working in a remote environment, you’ll also be supported with regular brainstorming and problem-solving sessions, open lines of communication, and team feedback to guide you in creating the best final product
Projects are flexible and depend on the intersection of your specific background and interests with the needs of UDisc as a company as well as the greater disc golf community
UDisc is a fully remote company and this will be a remote internship
About you
Strong problem-solving skills: able to think through issues disc golfers and disc golf community leaders face and come up with impactful solutions
Experience in Python and its suite of data science and analytics libraries, or experience in a similar suite such as R and interest in learning the aforementioned Python suite
Experience combining and aggregating data sets from disparate sources
Familiarity with querying databases to retrieve and manipulate data
Highly motivated and excited to learn new skills, tools, and technologies
Attentive to detail, be willing to go the extra mile to ensure you’re always proud of your work
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues
Located in the United States (work will be 100% remote)
What makes you stand out
Comfortable owning projects from start to finish
Thrive in a growing startup environment and enjoy working on complex and undefined projects
Prefer autonomous work and feel motivated by freedom to explore new ideas
Knowledge of and love for all things disc golf related
What it’s like working at UDisc
UDisc is a fully distributed team working from all over the United States. We have flexible schedules and stay connected using the best technology for remote workplaces.
We schedule meetings when we need them, but we always meet once a week to connect and learn what’s going on across the team. It’s not all about work (or disc golf), so we hold regular virtual get-togethers to share our interests, play games, and hang out as a team.
Our team consists of disc golfers from all levels and interests. You’ll see us take breaks to play a round on a beautiful day or try out a new release. Some of us play competitively, some of us love to watch the pros, some of us like the impact disc golf has on the world, and all of us love building the future of disc golf technology.
