- Knowledge of, and experience employing, the software development life cycle
- Software engineering experience encompassing: software requirements analysis, software design, software coding, software integration and testing
- Experience with Azure, AWS, and Gitlab pipelines
- Ability to multi-task and work across a variety of software development projects
- Experience using JavaScript, jQuery, Web Services, APIs, HTML and CSS
- Ability to work both independently and as a team
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must reside within a 70-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL
- Work closely with team members and customers to build and modify software
- Develop code, test, debug and fix issues, and improve software performance
- Connect data from differing sources such as SQL or Dataverse
- Set up, configure, and manage GitLab pipelines to automate build, deployment, and continuous integration processes
- Work closely with UI/UX designers to create user-friendly interfaces
- Integrate APIs and web services into applications as needed
- Ensure compliance with MDA Software Assurance policies and agile methodologies
- Modernize current legacy applications and migrate them to the hybrid cloud service provider environment
- Participate in sprint reviews and system demos as required
- Maintain technical documentation to include release notes for new software versions and training materials
- Provide the customer with recommendations for application enhancements, to include new capabilities and performance

Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, presented the honor to LaMontagne during a recent meeting. Why did Peter LaMontagne win the 2026 Wash100 Award? LaMontagne earned his second consecutive Wash100 Award for leading SMX through a period of accelerated growth driven by acquisitions, strategic partnerships and contract wins. A key milestone was SMX's acquisition of cBEYONData in February 2025, which expanded the company's capabilities in enterprise resource planning, financial analytics and budget management, while adding new platforms and services to its portfolio. The company also advanced its artificial intelligence initiatives through partnerships with C3 AI, Google Public Sector, World Wide Technology and ColorTokens, strengthening its capabilities in AI, digital engineering and zero trust cybersecurity to support mission-critical operations.
