Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The ability to compound a wide range of dosage forms accurately and efficiently is required.
  • A strong understanding of safe handling, personal protective equipment usage, and containment practices for hazardous drugs is required.
  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and measurement accuracy is required.
  • The ability to follow complex instructions and standard operating procedures is required.
  • The ability to work in a cleanroom environment, stand for prolonged periods, use normal vision, and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately compound customized non-sterile medications based on master formulation records.
  • Prepare dosage forms including troches, creams, ointments, gels, nasal sprays, oral drops, solutions, suspensions, and Rapid Dissolve Tablets.
  • Handle and compound hazardous drugs in compliance with United States Pharmacopeia Chapter 800 guidelines.
  • Perform cleaning, decontamination, and garbing procedures in designated non-sterile hazardous areas.
  • Maintain clean and organized compounding workspaces and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Document compounding processes and batch records, including ingredient batches, expiration dates, and patient-specific information.
  • Operate and maintain balances, homogenizers, mixers, pH meters, high-shear mixers, blenders, and ovens.
  • Perform quality checks at each stage of compounding to verify dosage accuracy and product integrity.
  • Assist with inventory control and the storage and labeling of raw materials, hazardous components, and finished products.
  • Coordinate with pharmacists, quality assurance, and inventory teams to ensure timely and accurate production.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee junior technicians on proper techniques, calculations, and protocols.
  • Maintain cleaning logs, equipment calibration records, and inventory usage documentation.
  • Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and training updates.
  • Follow pharmacy, safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and internal standard operating procedure requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician License is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia Chapters 795 and 800 requirements, including hazardous-drug safety protocols, is preferred.
  • Ongoing continuing education in non-sterile compounding is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems is preferred.
  • Experience in a compounding pharmacy or healthcare environment is preferred.
