MassMutual is a mutual life insurance and financial services organization with a history dating back to 1851. It offers life insurance products, retirement planning, and investment and protection solutions to individuals and families. Its products work by providing policies that pay out a death benefit or offer cash value growth over time, which can be used for savings, retirement, or financial protection. The company operates as a mutual, meaning policyholders own a stake in the company rather than external shareholders, and profits can be used to support policyholder benefits and financial strength. MassMutual differentiates itself through its mutual ownership model, long track record, and emphasis on long-term financial security for its customers, rather than serving outside investors.
