About the Role

As a Symbolic AI Engineer at Mendel, you will be responsible for developing and implementing highly efficient symbolic AI algorithms and models to extract knowledge from structured and unstructured healthcare data as well as effectively reasoning over knowledge bases to answer user questions. You will work closely with our AI/ML, clinical, and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy symbolic AI solutions that will help our customers make better healthcare decisions. Your role is integral to developing and deploying Mendel’s product offerings. You must balance technical expertise with an innovative and analytical mindset to develop symbolic AI solutions that can transform healthcare data into actionable insights.

You Will

• Implement highly efficient symbolic AI algorithms and models to extract knowledge from structured and unstructured healthcare data as well as reasoning over knowledge bases to answer complex user questions.
• Collaborate with the AI, clinical, and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy symbolic AI systems.
• Evaluate the performance of symbolic AI models on customer data and collaborate with the AI team to improve results.
• Perform Manual Error Analysis (MEA) on the output of your symbolic AI systems to get the needed feedback to improve their quality performance.
• Support the successful technical execution of POCs and production implementations while writing production-grade code.
• Collaborate and maintain a close working relationship with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, clinical, and sales teams.

You Have

• Strong engineering background in Computer Science and Software Engineering.
• Prior experience in building complex systems/engines that use efficient data structures and algorithms such as compilers and search engines.
• 4+ years of software developing and implementing symbolic AI algorithms and models.
• A highly analytical mindset and capacity to abstract complex concepts as this is a necessity for working with symbolic AI.
• Proficiency with Java or Scala.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of industry standard technologies in the Data Science and Machine Learning space.
• Healthcare domain experience and handling EMR data will be a plus.
• Experience with symbolic AI is a plus.

Compensation

$200,000 - $230,000
