  • A B.S. or MPA degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current registration with the New York Education Department as a Physician Assistant.
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Infection Control Certificate.
Responsibilities
  • Manage complex and independent patient evaluation and management functions under the supervision of an appropriately credentialed attending.
  • Provide direct clinical services for obstetric and gynecological patients according to established hospital protocols and evidence-based clinical practice standards.
  • Perform as a team member during Rapid Response, Cardiac Arrest Code, Stroke Code, Pain Rapid Response, and Sepsis Rapid Response events in the absence of a physician.
  • Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care; adhere to hospital policies; participate in continuing medical education; and perform bedside procedures within documented competence and privileges.
  • Document patient plans of care through timely maintenance of medical records, orders, notes, and verbal and telephone orders.
  • Collaborate with private attending physicians to complete medical admissions, including medication reconciliation, examination, identification of signs and symptoms, development of care plans, and thorough progress notes.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to patients, families, staff, and healthcare students.
  • Assess family coping skills and determine the need for crisis or other interventions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in bedside invasive and noninvasive procedures and maintain patient procedure logs.
