We are now looking for a PhD Research Intern - Programming Systems!
NVIDIA is seeking an outstanding researcher to join our programming systems research team. If you would like to help build the future of computing by equipping programmers with the tools they need to use parallel computing systems, this team will be a great fit for you! We seek to invent innovative parallel algorithm techniques, expressive parallel programming models/languages, powerful code analysis & generation tools, and scalable runtime environments that can help accelerate a broad range of real-world applications. After developing novel solutions and building prototype software that demonstrates their promise, you will work with product teams to help integrate your ideas into NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform.
What you’ll be doing:
Develop algorithms and design software extending the state of the art in parallel computing, machine learning, data analytics, and other technology areas surrounding NVIDIA’s business.
Invent new techniques, technologies, methodologies, and processes, to enable new products or types of products. Deliverable results include prototypes, patents, leading to products and publications.
Produce technology vision and the basis for products 5-10 years out. Focus should not be on products currently shipping or in development, except as to how they can be extended and improved.
What we need to see:
Pursuing PhD Degree in relevant discipline(s) (CS, CE, EE, Physics, Math).
2+ years of relevant industrial and University experience preferred. Relevant industries include hardware, software, and algorithm development on desktop, mobile, embedded, and datacenter systems.
Strong programming ability: C, C++, Python, and Rust preferred
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Expertise in applying programming system insights and techniques to problems in machine learning, data science, and/or distributed computing.
Expertise in applying AI, such as large language models, to create new ways of solving the problems of software engineering.
Ability to implement ideas in the CUDA programming model
Experience building software systems used by other developers to solve their own problems.

The hourly rate for our interns is 16 USD - 88 USD. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.
