Requirements
  • The candidate must be detail oriented, focused, motivated, able to prioritize, and able to work independently.
  • The candidate must be able to wear protective gear including a mask, gloves, gown, and hairnet.
  • The candidate must have one of the following: a Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry, Pharmacy Technician certification, Laboratory Technician certification, LPN credential, or RN credential.
Responsibilities
  • Aid and assist with filling and preparing prescriptions for allergen immunotherapy as ordered by physicians.
  • Mix serums for take-away orders, Medicare vials, individual patient vials, stock vials for office orders, and special combinations through the mixing program.
  • Monitor and record refrigerator temperatures daily.
  • Check stock vials used for office orders in the morning and afternoon.
  • Track supplies used for mixing, including expiration dates on extracts, and advise when supplies are running low.
  • Use aseptic technique at all times, including proper handwashing, cleansing treatment vials, and disinfecting the mixing area.
  • Wear personal protective equipment during mixing, including a cap, gown, gloves, and mask.
  • Dispose of needles properly in the sharps container, monitor the container daily, and remove it once it reaches the fill line.
  • Keep the laboratory area clean and orderly.
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and record books.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Maintain equipment.
