Requirements
  • Dependable, punctual, good attendance.
  • Able to take measurements, read tape measures, calipers, micrometers and input into human-machine interface to make adjustments to program.
  • Able to make calculations using decimals and/or fractions.
  • Able to operate power tools such as hand drills, nail guns, circular or miter saws, jigsaws, etc.
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to read Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow basic work instructions.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Minimum of General Educational Development or High School diploma.
  • Prefer: Familiar with WorkSafeBC’s guidelines and training resources.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; may sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Observe all safety precautions and plant regulations to prevent injury to self and others or damage to material or equipment.
  • Participate in plant safety processes and programs
  • Operate machinery or stations as instructed by the Team Leader to meet scheduled demands to include but not limited to custom orders, inventory, product samples, and product development prototypes
  • Assemble materials and package finished products for transport to customers
  • Ensure that the standards for quality, output, safety etc. are adhered to and improved upon.
  • Keep accurate records of production, waste/scrap, and quality checks undertaken.
  • Ensure high attention to detail, accuracy and quality of work.
  • Properly maintain equipment and a clean and organized work environment.
  • Maintain a high level of customer focus in producing quality products and services that do not sacrifice the safety of others, oneself, nor the environment
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior manufacturing, assembly or machine operator experience preferred
  • Woodworking experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints or manufacturing drawings preferred.
  • 1-3 years of past manufacturing experience preferred
  • Familiar with WorkSafeBC’s guidelines and training resources.

Armstrong expands design capabilities with Eventscape acquisition

Armstrong World Industries has acquired Eventscape, a design and fabrication company specialising in complex architectural features for ceilings, walls and facades. The deal expands Armstrong's custom design capabilities following previous acquisitions of Zahner, Arktura, Turf and 3form. Founded in 1999, Eventscape employs 150 professionals across facilities in Toronto and New York, generating approximately $30 million in revenue in 2025. The company uses parametric modelling and advanced fabrication techniques across materials including metal, wood, resin and glass. Recent projects include JP Morgan Chase's New York headquarters and David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. Armstrong funded the acquisition through available cash and its revolving credit facility. The company reported $1.4 billion in revenue in 2024 and operates 24 manufacturing facilities.
