Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and/or three years of experience in a leadership position in a senior living setting is required.
  • Two years of experience in a social, recreational, or wellness program in a senior living setting is required.
  • Efficient computer knowledge and use of Microsoft products, word processing, spreadsheets, database systems, and email is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the development, implementation, supervision, and ongoing evaluation of wellness programs and activities.
  • Complete or delegate the activities component of the comprehensive assessment.
  • Contribute to, direct, or delegate contributions to comprehensive care plan goals.
  • Manage the wellness program, including scheduling activities and revising interventions as necessary.
  • Hire, train, supervise, discipline, evaluate, and terminate Wellness staff.
  • Create, develop, and facilitate a comprehensive preventive and holistic wellness program addressing mind, body, and spirit.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the departmental budget for social activities, physical fitness, education, social services, chaplaincy, and volunteers.
  • Assess residents' conditions and abilities and use this information to develop responsive activity plans.
  • Motivate residents to attend activities.
  • Publicize and advertise activities and events within the villages and local communities.
  • Coordinate, brainstorm, and approve special events, holiday activities, and blended programs within the village.
  • Approve the resident newsletter and calendar of events.
  • Direct posted activity programs and assign program leadership to qualified individuals.
  • Schedule and coordinate leisure activity programs to meet residents' varied interests and physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
  • Facilitate or delegate facility decorating for holidays and special events and assign responsibilities to qualified individuals.
  • Review documentation and prepare verbal and written reports on attendance, participation, interest, changes in abilities, appropriateness of care, and activity plans.
  • Revise and update documentation, including charts and Minimum Data Set records, in accordance with state and village requirements, and provide related verbal and written reports.
  • Prepare and present reports to the Resident Association.
  • Attend and facilitate assigned committee meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a senior living environment is preferred.
  • Certification as an Activities Professional, or willingness to obtain the certification, is desirable.
