The CDC Foundation is the go-to nonprofit authorized by Congress to mobilize philanthropic partners and private-sector resources to support CDC’s critical health protection mission. Since 1995, the CDC Foundation has raised over $1.9 billion and launched more than 1,300 programs impacting a variety of health threats from chronic disease conditions including cardiovascular disease and cancer, to infectious diseases like rotavirus and HIV, to emergency responses, including COVID-19 and Ebola. Roles and Responsibilities

Work 30 hours per week summer semester
Be responsible for his or her assigned work schedule and report to the internship site at the agreed upon time
Meet with the Internship Liaison on a weekly basis to discuss project progress and internship goals
Follow the CDC Foundation policies and procedures regarding dress code and professional behavior
Inform the Internship Liaison of any problems that might occur in a timely and reasonable manner, including concerns regarding the lack of substantive work assignments
Supply relevant forms and evaluations to the Internship Liaison to be completed and follow up to ensure timely submission.

Primary Activities

Conduct literature reviews on heat-related health impacts to support project objectives and enhance the organization’s knowledge base.
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of current public health interventions and policies related to heat exposure.
Help strategize potential workshops and/or meetings that educate community members, stakeholders, and policymakers on heat-related health issues.
Assist with mapping out partners for potential climate consortiums.
Assist with program management tasks such as scheduling meetings, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing project timelines.
Research to develop a list of domestic and global health and health experts and philanthropists who can serve in an expert consultancy capacity for the CDC Foundation.
Support the development of materials and resources for an expert convening.

Qualifications and Necessary Skills

Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-directed and able to work without supervision
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
