Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
  • Five years of relevant full-time work experience is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Hands-on experience with structural analysis and design software is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Ability to perform field inspection activities such as climbing ladders and using man lifts is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and the MTO Structural Manual is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist senior engineers with inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation, and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and transportation-related facilities under supervision.
  • Perform steel and concrete design using structural programs such as CSI Bridge and SAP2000.
  • Perform structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures.
  • Develop structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Collaborate and communicate with various disciplines.
  • Coordinate structural design with project requirements.
  • Design concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns, and beams.
  • Develop structural details.
  • Review structural shop drawings.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.
  • Lead structural design for small-scale projects.
  • Attend seminars to broaden exposure and remain current in the industry.
Desired Qualifications
  • A P.Eng. license is preferred.
  • Experience with local clients is preferred.
