Job Description
The Data Governance Program Manager is responsible for expanding the breadth and depth of data governance across all business domains and data sources within the organization, with the goal of establishing a center of excellence. This role requires a strong blend of technical acumen and business communication skills to effectively manage and communicate data governance initiatives and ensure key stakeholders are engaged, with the end goal of improving data literacy and promoting data democratization throughout the organization.

Data Governance Strategy:
Deliver on the established data governance strategy and frameworks that align with organizational goals.
Implement data governance policies and standards across all business domains and data sources.
Program Management:
Lead and manage data governance projects from inception through completion.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance initiatives are effectively integrated into business processes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for data governance-related inquiries.
Communicate data governance policies and procedures to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Serve as the chair of the data governance steering committee which includes data stewards from across the organization.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize Microsoft Purview for Data Governance to manage and enrich data assets.
Ensure data quality, integrity, compliance, and security through effective governance practices.
Data Literacy and Democratization:
Develop and implement initiatives to improve data literacy across the organization.
Promote data democratization to ensure accessible and usable data for all business units.
Training and Support:
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance best practices.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure compliance with data governance policies.
Performance Monitoring:
Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
Regularly report on data governance performance to senior management.
Qualifications:
Proven experience with Microsoft Purview for Data Governance and experience with hybrid/federated data governance models.
Excellent technical and business communication skills.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in data governance concepts, tools and technologies.
Proficiency with relational databases, especially Snowflake, is a plus.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field
Relevant certifications in data governance or data management

Salary Range
Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate’s knowledge, experience and skills.
