Requirements
  • At least 6 years of compliance, audit, or risk management experience.
  • At least 5 years of program or project management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of consumer packaged goods and/or food retail experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in a food or non-food consumer goods production facility producing high-risk products, including meat, seafood, produce, or ready-to-eat foods.
  • HACCP and PCQI certifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of product and food safety for complex product categories and processing environments, as well as quality assurance and control processes and workflows.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and North American regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with quality and food safety data systems, including LIMS, SPC software, supplier compliance platforms such as FoodLogiQ or ReposiTrak, and quality management platforms; ability to configure automated workflows, build custom reports, and extract actionable insights from large testing and compliance datasets.
  • Ability to build sophisticated dashboards, develop advanced metrics-based reporting, and use Business Intelligence tools to analyze complex quality and safety data, identify trends, and communicate findings for informed decision-making.
  • Advanced understanding of retail product lifecycle management.
  • Project leadership and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience advising senior leadership and managing relationships across suppliers, legal, and operations partners.
  • Ability to leverage market understanding for project decisions and knowledge of Whole Foods Market operations.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time, including overnight stays.
Responsibilities
  • Enable commercialization activities and provide technical guidance to ensure products meet Whole Foods Market quality and regulatory standards.
  • Develop chemical, microbiological, physical, and shelf-life testing requirements based on supplier data, testing profiles, regulatory requirements, safety risk, and Whole Foods Market requirements.
  • Review supplier food safety plans and product risk assessments.
  • Partner with the Whole Foods Market Legal team on regulatory requirements.
  • Review applicable product claims and statements and determine claim-validation criteria.
  • Develop and negotiate shelf-life study validation parameters.
  • Partner with product developers to incorporate product attributes into testing profiles.
  • Review supplier documents and test results for Whole Foods Market and regulatory compliance.
  • Review supplier quality reports, supplier visit reports, and facility risk assessments.
  • Review first-production test results.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers to evaluate and resolve complex, recurring, and business-critical issues.
  • Advise stores, operational areas, suppliers, and executive-level leadership on local, state, federal, and international regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Lead development and implementation of advanced technical solutions using programming, data analytics, and automation tools to enhance food safety and quality systems.
  • Monitor formulation and label review, identify product or cross-product issues, determine root causes, and drive sustainable resolutions.
  • Oversee or advise others on the management of Product Safety and Quality analyses, tests, documentation, and reporting.
  • Provide expert technical consulting using advanced software tools and cross-functional relationships to develop solutions for emerging issues.
  • Work with operational leadership to improve food and product safety and quality standards and operational excellence.
  • Advise leadership on functional progress, status, trends, and issues.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements.
  • A graduate degree in science or a relevant field.
  • Experience with natural and organic foods, including clean-label formulation and ingredient-sourcing standards.
  • GFSI, quality systems, or product safety auditing experience.
  • Sensory evaluation experience and skills.
  • Experience managing supplier qualification programs and conducting risk-based supplier assessments across diverse product categories.
  • Experience leading or supporting product recalls, market withdrawals, or food safety incident investigations.
  • Familiarity with international food safety standards and global supply chain quality requirements, including BRC, SQF, FSSC 22000, and IFS.
  • Experience building and managing quality and safety dashboards and reporting frameworks using Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, ETQ, Veeva, or TraceGains.
  • Experience with workflow automation tools such as Power Automate, Smartsheet, or SAP QM.
  • Knowledge of emerging food safety technologies, including blockchain traceability, rapid pathogen detection, and predictive shelf-life modeling.
  • Experience with food labeling compliance, claims substantiation, and regulatory label review involving the FDA, USDA, or FTC.

Amazon adds free cloud gaming to Fire TV via PHYND's ad-supported service

Amazon's Texas data centre set to become America's biggest polluter with 33M tons CO2 yearly

Amazon is constructing a natural gas power plant in West Texas permitted to emit up to 33 million tonnes of CO2 annually, potentially double the output of America's current dirtiest power station. The facility will exclusively serve an adjacent Amazon Web Services AI data centre. Developed by Pacifico Energy with Amazon financing, the plant features 35 gas turbines and up to 7.65 gigawatts of capacity. The permitted emission ceiling of 33 million tonnes compares with roughly 16 million tonnes from Alabama's James H. Miller Jr. coal plant, currently the nation's highest emitter.
