Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Ohio licensure.
  • Three years of progressive hospital nursing experience, with administration and supervision experience preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred or required after hire.
  • Clinical certification is preferred.
  • Strong clinical experience.
  • Effective communication, conflict management, decision-making, critical thinking, and time management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Administer clinical operations within the medical center in partnership with nursing and physician leadership, the administrator on-call, and hospital leadership.
  • Enforce hospital and nursing quality standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Quality.
  • Support the professional practice of nursing.
  • Manage nurse schedules and interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors to ensure adequate patient care.
  • Supervise immediate patient care operations during an assigned shift, including making rounds in all patient care areas.
  • Obtain reports from charge nurses and the Nurse Manager and maintain awareness of current patient status.
  • Facilitate communication between nurses and other disciplines and maintain organized processes for informing staff across work shifts.
  • Assist with supervision of nursing-unit staff while on duty.
  • Contribute to evaluations of nursing and clinical ancillary staff.
  • Recommend performance actions, including disciplinary actions and terminations, to the appropriate Nurse Manager.
  • Coordinate nursing activities with related clinical departments and provide information for staffing needs.
  • Represent the organization during crises, emergencies, or unusual situations in collaboration with legal and administration.
  • Operate under the guidance of the Ohio Board of Nursing and other regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Promote nursing practice, just culture, safety, quality, and evidence-based practice.
  • Manage organizational risks in alignment with physicians and leadership.
  • Maintain focus on patient experience and staff engagement.
  • Serve as a communication pathway for Nursing Directors, the Chief Nursing Officer, and other organizational leaders.
