Requirements
  • Must be able to report and perform job duties primarily on-site at the Pueblo, Colorado Regional Distribution Center and have no relocation offered for this position.
  • Internship is paid at 40 hours per week and requires full-time commitment for the duration of the program.
  • Strong interest in working in retail supply chain facilities and desire to lead teams in a distribution environment.
  • Experience in leadership roles through school activities, extracurriculars, or prior experience in a supervisory or team-leading role.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and demonstrate problem-solving skills and strong initiative.
  • Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility to respond to team member issues.
  • Ability to climb ladders and to safely handle and move merchandise, with physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 15 pounds regularly.
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular attendance is required.
  • Participation in school or extracurricular activities and experience in leadership roles.
  • Willingness to learn Target leadership expectations and continuously develop through internship program.
  • Track record of teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to take risks and engage in inclusive leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Spend time on the facilities floor helping to lead amongst team members and align the team in daily business priorities.
  • Work alongside team members to lead through daily priorities.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality and inventory accuracy through standardized processes (standard works, job breakdowns, and quality risk analysis) while ensuring employee accountability.
  • Track various key performance indicators such as safety, teamwork, quality and productivity to identify gaps and drive actions to maintain consistent performance.
  • Carry out process improvement initiatives by leveraging continuous improvement methodologies such as Gemba, Fishbone Analysis, and 5 whys to create a lean defect-free operation.
  • Administer communication between the information technology and the operation team to address system issues and conduct testing in the Warehouse Management System.
  • Recruit and mentor team members to develop a continuous improvement mindset and guide them to leadership roles through engaging and inclusive leadership.
  • Address team member concerns and remove operational hurdles to ensure smooth operations and goal attainment.
  • Lead daily meetings for the operational team and present at daily planning meetings with peer and leadership teams.
  • Plan daily goals and organize shift plans to achieve targets at the start of shifts.
  • Provide summary of results around plan attainment, hurdles, successes, and key learnings to apply moving forward at end of shift.
  • Conduct audits around standard adherence with safety, quality, and productivity; provide feedback and coaching on audit observations.
  • Conduct safety walks in the building to identify, resolve, and report findings.
  • Follow up on team member attendance and coaching as necessary.
  • Partner with leaders regarding team member performance by teaching, coaching, training, and delivering timely performance feedback.
  • Provide new ideas and recommend solutions for business or team opportunities.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn Target leadership expectations and seek opportunities for growth and development.
  • Participate in internship program training activities, developmental opportunities, and events.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead the team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment.
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and secure culture.
  • Carry out principal duties and responsibilities by the department through internship rotations as trained.
  • Understand business reporting and guest insights to understand, troubleshoot, and follow up on opportunity areas.
  • Gain an understanding of all business areas to develop business acumen.
  • Collaborate with building leaders daily to set goals and expectations.
