Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Michigan
  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
  • Unit-specific certifications may be required based on assignment
  • If hired on or after December 29, 2013, must obtain BSN within 8 years or employment will be terminated
Responsibilities
  • Coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care across the continuum under general supervision and in accordance with Bronson policies, unit guidelines, and the Michigan Public Health Code
  • Assessing, planning, and delivering nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation)
  • Coordinating care with other healthcare professionals
  • Delegating appropriate tasks to Patient Care Assistants and Universal Service Assistants based on scope of practice and skill level
  • Providing selected physical care in line with the patient’s acuity and complexity of needs
  • Documenting and communicating patient responses to care, resource use, and anticipated needs during each shift
  • Maintaining patient safety and comfort and administering medications and treatments per policy and procedure
  • Educating patients and families based on their specific needs
  • Supervising and evaluating care delegated to support staff
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and using data to enhance care delivery and nursing practice
  • Maintaining clinical competence through continuing education
  • Participating in peer reviews and self-evaluation
  • Upholding professional standards, laws, and regulations
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families
  • Advocating for patient rights, dignity, and autonomy
  • Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating cultural competence
  • Incorporating evidence-based practice and research into clinical care
  • Engaging in research activities as appropriate to education level
  • Assigning and delegating based on patient needs and staff competencies
  • Educating patients and families on treatment options and care decisions
  • Attending at least 50% of unit staff meetings
  • Active participation in councils, committees, and professional events representing Bronson
  • Promoting a healthy, respectful, and professional work environment
Desired Qualifications
