Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.
  • No experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One accepted medical assistant certification or registration: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from the National Healthcareer Association; Certified Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants; Clinical Medical Assistant Certification from the American Medical Certification Association; Medical Assistant certification from the American Allied Health Association; Medical Assistant Certification from the American Medical Certification Association; National Certified Medical Assistant from the National Center for Competency Testing; Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant from the National Association for Health Professionals; or Registered Medical Assistant certification from the American Association of Medical Personnel, American Medical Technologists, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or another listed issuing organization.
  • Ability to work safely in a constant state of alertness.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing and walking, lifting and carrying objects, keyboard use and data entry, patient movement, and occasional driving.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, record information in patient charts, and prepare treatment rooms for examinations.
  • Answer phones, maintain records, schedule patients, and file documents.
  • Order and stock supplies and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document provider encounters with patients when required, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
