Requirements
  • Expertise in the field with extensive relevant experience; 15+ years of experience is stated for the principal career level.
  • A master's degree or college/university degree, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience, is generally required.
  • Ability to comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to implement and maintain safety and health systems, including RK Mechanical Orientation, CPR/First Aid/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens training, shop or site-specific orientation, and OSHA 30.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and be responsible for the overall construction of projects within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Manage Business Unit and/or Operation Group processes and procedures across pre-construction, planning and preparation, execution and control, and closeout.
  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of Business Unit and Operation Group managers and their teams as needed.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for the Business Unit.
  • Review the Business Unit bidding, pending, and new-project list and follow up on award and staffing issues.
  • Assist with estimating and bid-closing management needs.
  • Ensure pre-construction planning meetings are conducted for Business Unit projects.
  • Ensure bid estimate work units are quantified and confirmed to match contract work units and that an accurate original budget is developed.
  • Ensure prompt review and processing of Business Unit contract and subcontract agreements.
  • Ensure the material, equipment, and fixture management plan is developed, implemented, and monitored, including requisitions, buyouts, submittals, computer-aided design, release, prefabrication, fabrication, status tracking, and delivery coordination.
  • Ensure Business Unit billings are accurately and timely completed and payments are collected by their due dates.
  • Ensure change-condition work is accurately and timely priced, submitted, processed, and collected.
  • Coordinate work and communications between departments as necessary.
  • Provide training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership for Business Unit and Operation Group personnel.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and employee warnings or counseling as required.
  • Ensure labor resource loading and productivity tracking are implemented, updated, and analyzed weekly.
  • Ensure monthly Business Unit cost projections are accurately and timely completed.
  • Provide monthly Business Unit summary reports to the Vice President of Operations.
  • Maintain and improve relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
  • Solicit staff suggestions for improving procedures, productivity, and efficiency and forward suggestions to the Vice President of Operations.
  • Ensure post-construction closeout meetings are conducted for Business Unit projects.
  • Maintain accountability for safety and health and stop work when an unsafe condition is present.
  • Implement and maintain required safety and health system practices for employees and subcontractors.
