Twitch is a live streaming platform mainly for video game content, esports, and creative broadcasts. It lets creators broadcast their play or creative work in real time and lets viewers watch and chat live. Viewers can support creators through subscriptions, donations, and virtual goods, while ads and sponsorships provide revenue for the platform and creators. Streamers use broadcasting software to share video, audio, and gameplay; the platform handles streaming delivery, real-time chat, recommendations, and monetization options. Twitch differs from competitors by focusing on a highly interactive, real-time community centered around gaming and creative content, with built-in chat, emotes, and a large, engaged audience. Its goal is to connect creators with audiences through live entertainment, enable creators to earn money from their streams, and offer advertisers a targeted way to reach gaming and entertainment audiences.

TheLinkU and Twitch launch StreamU, exclusive college athletics livestreaming network for NIL revenue

TheLinkU, a name, image and likeness platform for college sports, has partnered with Twitch to launch StreamU, a livestreaming network exclusively for college athletics. The network will create new revenue opportunities for universities and student-athletes through subscriptions, advertising and sponsorships. StreamU operates as a national digital sports network where universities manage branded channels under a centralised umbrella. TheLinkU will serve as the operational and compliance backbone, enabling NIL participation beyond major programmes to Olympic and non-revenue sports. Founded in 2022 by Austin Elrod, TheLinkU provides services to help college athletes and institutions navigate the NIL landscape. The partnership plans activations beginning around Selection Sunday, with a national presence during Final Four weekend in Indianapolis.
