  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Medicine and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi or eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi.
  • Must hold a medical license, or be eligible to be licensed, to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi.
  • The role is subject to irregular hours and weekends as needed.
  • The role requires daily and constant interaction with patients, families, and fellow employees.
  • The role may involve exposure to communicable diseases, infection, and radiation.
Responsibilities
  • Provide 24-hour responsibility for providing health care.
  • Assist in coordinating, scheduling, and administering health care in one or more designated clinics, infirmary, and/or hospital.
  • Supervise and direct licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, nurse assistants, laboratory and radiology personnel, and other medical staff in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Request necessary laboratory tests for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Request necessary radiographic studies for appropriate diagnosis and treatment and participate in a rotational call schedule to address after-hours emergencies.
  • Adhere to all pertinent University of Mississippi Medical Center policies and procedures and perform tasks necessary to maintain high standards of clinical operation and patient care.
  • Organize and conduct general or specialized diagnostic and/or treatment clinics.
  • Render consultative services in health matters to staff members, public officials, voluntary health agencies, committees, organizations, and professional groups.
  • Plan and conduct various control and treatment programs, including specialized areas such as epidemiologic investigations.
  • Organize, conduct, and supervise chronic care clinics and treatment programs.
  • Encourage and emphasize health education and prepare and maintain necessary records and reports.
  • Promote and assist in training programs for health personnel and perform administrative and staff supervisory duties as required.
