Edge Optical Engineer

ByteDance Networking is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable software development and/or network operation experience in data center networking at massive scale. Responsibilities: - Deploy and maintain OTN infrastructure to support edge network build, expansion and optimization. - Collaborate with network engineering, operations, and data center teams to integrate optical transport solutions. - Plan and execute capacity upgrades, network migrations, and new deployments. - Work with vendors and carriers to procure, configure, and troubleshoot optical transport equipment. - Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, operational procedures, and performance reports. - Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions for optical transport network issues. Minimum Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience in optical transport network engineering, with expertise in DWDM, ROADM, and coherent optics. - Hands-on experience with leading optical transport platforms (e.g., Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Infinera). - Good understanding of optical fiber characteristics, transmission impairments, and network planning. Preferred Qualifications: - Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform detailed performance analysis. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
