- Completion of a Certified Medication Aide program and compliance with state-required continuing education requirements.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, with clinical competency in medication administration and infection control procedures.
- Completion of a minimum of 12 hours of in-service education annually.
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor residents for side effects, and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records and document changes in residents' conditions.
- Follow state regulations and facility policies to ensure medication safety and adherence to proper procedures.
- Assist with laundry as needed and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain medication supplies and report shortages or discrepancies as needed.
- Support daily resident care routines, including personal care and housekeeping assistance.
- Assist in the orientation and development of new Certified Medication Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants.
- Observe residents' conditions, report relevant information, and review care plans daily for updates.
- Conduct safety surveys, keep resident rooms tidy, and replace linens as needed.
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and address needs in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and adhere to facility policies.
- Follow the dress code and provide notice for absences or tardiness.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
