Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of LPN coursework.
  • Valid LPN license.
Responsibilities
  • Take vital signs.
  • Administer medication to clients as directed.
  • Complete charting for insurance purposes.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude toward residents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Complete drug screening.
  • Create a safe and healthy environment for clients.
  • Comply with random employee drug screening.
  • Ensure universal precautions at the center.
  • Schedule all appointments with physicians and mental health providers.
  • Log medications and maintain an accurate medication logbook.
  • Be on call for the residential center.
  • Coordinate refills and new prescriptions with the staff physician.
  • Inventory medications weekly through medication counts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with company, state, federal, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act rules and regulations.
  • Participate in staff and state regulatory training as required.
  • Be available to work some evening, overnight, and/or weekend shifts.
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures while maintaining a professional code of ethics.
  • Follow the organization’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices as required by federal and state law and in accordance with professional healthcare-provider principles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Substance abuse experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery-driven service systems.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in cases of alcohol or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and the ability to take appropriate action at each stage.
  • Knowledge of community health resources that support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health; economic security; employment; positive social and family interdependence; and positive cultural identity.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations governing the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs, including their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on individuals and their families.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and stay on schedule.
  • Ability to enforce program requirements.
  • Ability to determine whether a medical emergency exists and take appropriate action when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create safe and healthy relationships with clients.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read detailed health records.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
