Requirements
  • Earned Doctorate in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Candidates who are All But Dissertation will be considered if the degree is conferred by August 7, 2025.
  • Demonstrable evidence of significant contributions in teaching and scholarship for candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank.
  • Experience in teaching, research, and professional service within the general field of computing.
  • Experience in scholarship or industry within the general field of computing.
  • Knowledge of major concepts, assumptions, debates, and processes of inquiry central to the discipline.
  • Knowledge and ability to use technology in various teaching modalities including face-to-face, synchronous online, and asynchronous online formats.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver instruction.
  • Ability to establish relationships with external industry partners and the southwest Florida community.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Prepare syllabi and instructional materials, develop and deliver lectures, and evaluate student performance.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide individual assistance to students.
  • Perform regular scholarly research and produce demonstrable productivity such as peer-reviewed scholarship, patent applications, and grant applications.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development and advancement for the department.
  • Engage in reflective self-assessment of teaching styles and methods to ensure effective instructional performance.
  • Ensure the timely completion and reporting of student learning assessments.
  • Attend departmental, faculty, and college meetings.
  • Adopt the university learning management system and other campus-wide technology platforms.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation processes in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Provide service to the College, University, and Community through committees and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
  • Mentor student organizations, clubs, and competition teams.
  • Foster an entrepreneurial mindset spanning engineering education and research.
Desired Qualifications
  • Specialization in the field of cybersecurity.
  • Teaching and research interests in disciplinary areas that complement or supplement the existing expertise within the Department of Computing and Software Engineering.
  • Prior experience in obtaining extramural funding.
  • Prior experience in industry related to computing.
