Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
  • 15+ years of project experience working in the Petrochemical industry required.
  • 15+ years of process controls & automation engineering experience
  • Ability to work with multiple projects
  • Familiarity with ISA/NFPA standards related to process control.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and have the ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Basic Knowledge of leading Industrial DCS and Safety Systems (SIS) and latest technology trends. Specific experience with one or two of the following – Honeywell and Emerson systems is beneficial. ABB experience is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation technologies (flow, pressure, temperature and level)
  • Basic understanding of databases and their relevance to process control.
  • Basic knowledge of server and networking technology, ability to work collaborate with IT staff to maintain cyber security compliance on projects.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Leads the controls and instrument engineering design effort on large mechanical projects.
  • Works with engineering contractors to prepare scopes, estimates, and schedules of proposed control system projects.
  • Ensures projects conform with company engineering standards and best practices.
  • Oversees and reviews the design specifications and drawings for projects.
  • Assists in developing functional specifications with process engineers and plant site.
  • Works with team to develop control/interlock strategies.
  • Supports P&ID development for projects.
  • Reviews control system and network architecture drawings.
  • Reviews I&E package drawings (loop, marshalling, fiber, power)
  • Specifies instrumentation and metallurgy appropriate for the processes.
  • Oversees automation programming and testing efforts.
  • Assist operating facility’s DCS operations and performance by providing technical support and troubleshooting and recommend the development of programs for improvement.
  • Develop programming documentation for reference in process hazards reviews, layers of protection analysis, fault tree, and other hazard analysis methods.
  • Provide recommendations on up-to-date process control systems and cost effective technologies.
  • Follows project installation and commissioning of instrument and control systems.
  • Works with Project Manager to adhere to project schedule.
  • Manage standalone small controls system projects as required.
  • Obey safety rules at different plant sites.
