Requirements
  • Must be a licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) is required.
Responsibilities
  • The Specialty Practice Pharmacist – Medication Safety is a leader in formulating policy and instituting models that promote medication safety in all aspects of the medication management process.
  • Working collaboratively with identified multidisciplinary leadership teams, the role is responsible for administering the medication safety program on behalf of the Department of Pharmacy.
  • These activities include, but are not limited to: reporting, system and process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, and monitoring of activities related to medication safety.
  • This individual also functions as a liaison between pharmacy, nursing, medical staff leadership, and quality personnel.
  • This position is also responsible for supervising Pharm.D. students, pharmacy interns, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff (physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff).
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced administrative degree (M.S., MHA, MPH, MBA) and/or prior medication safety experience is preferred.
  • Post-graduate residency training and a significant track record in scholarship and teaching are preferred.
